Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma in English literature. Mitchell was employed as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. She became a reporter for the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located which was based in Washington DC. Two years later she became a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. From 1981 onwards she began covering the White House. In 1988, she became head of the congressional reporters. Mitchell became the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell was host and an expert panelist on the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell participated on a panel during the debates in 1988 with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her role to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to report on White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan as president from 1981-1988. Her reporting included a number of important stories like the Iran-contra affair, the tax and budget reforms and also the issue of arms control. Mitchell traveled extensively together with the president Reagan to meet with Mikhail Gorbachev.
